Here in the beautiful department of La Creuse in central France summer is almost over and there is the very first hint of autumnal colours in the hazel hedges.  It has been a strange summer weather wise, many long hot sunny days, many evenings of dry thunder and lightening storms, many overnight heavy rain storms; consequently everything is still very green and grass cutting has continued unabated all summer.  Normally we have some week when this chore disappears. How time drags when winter sets in but now after those awfully dull months of December, January and February, nature is awaking and my time outside in my garden is beginning. It is amazing how quickly things alter; last week the forsythia was just showing colour, now it is ablaze with raucous yellow colour. We seem to have a spell of everything yellow including Cenyn Pedr, this translates from the Welsh into Peter's Leeks, more commonly known to us as daffodils! Already the violet, mauve and purple colours are beginning with aubretia, pulmonaria, violets and crocus. Soon green will become predominant, hopefully under clear blue skies. Then w
